In-Camera Red-Eye fix can automatically detect the annoying red-eye effect sometimes caused by flash and compensate for it in-camera. And the D-Lighting function can rescue underexposed images or shots with too much backlight by creating a copy of the image but with light and detail added where necessary and well-exposed areas left exactly as they were.

Stop-Motion Movie
The COOLPIX S9 brings further photographic fun with the Stop-motion function that makes it easy to create professional-looking animated films. Users simply pose the models they wish to animate, move them slightly, then shoot them again to create a film frame by frame. Opaque versions of previous shots are shown on the camera's large LCD to assist users when making the movements and a one-second shutter delay keeps the overall result steady. Once all the shooting is done, the user is free to select up to 200 images as well as the frame rate for playback and the COOLPIX S9 creates the final film automatically in-camera.
